27th May 2012 - A Langden Round
Walk Details
Distance walked: 10.8 miles
Total ascent: 1869 ft
OS map used: OL41 - Forest of Bowland & Ribblesdale
Time taken: 6 hrs
Route description: Parking area by Langden Brook on the Trough of Bowland road-Langden-Langden Castle-Fiendsdale-Fiendsdale Head-Fair Snape Fell-Totridge-Hareden Farm-Parking area by Langden Brook on the Trough of Bowland road
An ideal day for this walk in Bowland. The hot weather of the week had really dried the ground out and made Bowland's bogs bearable.
From the parking area by Langden Brook I made my way up the valley to the ruin of Langden Castle and then up Fiendsdale to Fiendsdale Head. From there it was then upto the summit of Fair Snape Fell before heading across to the trig point and shelter to have my lunch. The next bit of the walk would potentially be the boggiest but it was pretty easy going all the way across to Totridge. I then made my way down to Hareden Farm and back to the start by a path next to Langden Brook.
