It's another day of sunshine, showers, and strong winds for today's walk on Treshnish, on the west coast of Mull. The route comes from one of my guidebooks and uses a track that provides access to holiday cottages to reach the coast, follows the south coast of Treshnish, then returns via the ruined settlement of Crackaig and across moorland to the start. I arrived at Treshnish late in the morning, and set off as a shower was clearing. That happened to be the last one that I'd see for a while as I enjoyed a few hours of sunny spells for the walk along the coast, before a downpour finally caught me as I was crossing the moorland back to the start.
After parking my car by the B8073 at the disused quarry a short distance south of the track to Treshnish Cottages, I walked north to that track and took it to reach Treshnish Cottages, and then on to its end at Haunn Cottages. Just before the cottages are reached I left the track for a path on the right that I followed down to the coast. I then made my way south and then east along the coast, stopping for lunch on the way. As the raised beach that the path crosses came to an end I followed it uphill through a gap in the crags and across the moorland above, passing the ruined settlement of Crackaig, to reach the house of Laroch Mhor and the B8073. A walk north along the road brought me back to where I'd parked my car.

Route map
From the layby where I parked my car I walk north along the B8073 and take the track on the left
I follow the track west to Treshnish Cottages..
Looking north across Calgary Bay from the track after passing Treshnish Cottages
Following the track southwest to Haunn Cottages..
To my right, the view north across the entrance to Calgary Bay to Caliach Point in the distance
Reaching Haunn Cottages, and I leave the track for a path on the right that heads towards the coast...
I soon have a view of the coast and across to the Treshnish Isles. Before I head south along the coast I'm going to visit that headland just right of centre.
Taking in the view from that headland. Looking north to Cnoc an Sleibhe.
and southwest to the Treshnish Isles. I'm looking along them from this angle, with the high point being on Lunga.
My route continues south along the raised beach. The water being blown up from the edge of the moor on the left shows that it's a bit on the breezy side.
Views north along the coast, and across to the Treshnish Isles as I make my way south...
Ulva and Gometra come into view on the other side of Loch Tuath
and then I have a view up Loch Tuath to a distant Ben More
Views across to the Treshnish Isles, and Loch Tuath to Ulva and Gometra as I head east along the coast...
Looking east along the crags above the coast. I'm going to visit the headland on the right to take in the view.
and it gives me a great view up Loch Tuath
I visit another one to take in the view across Loch Tuath to Ulva and Gometra..
and to the Treshnish Isles
I reach the point where I'll leave the coast behind. A path heads up the hillside on the left.
The view west along the coast and across to the Treshnish Isles
and across Loch Tuath to Gometra
Looking east along the south coast of Treshnish and to Ulva
A look back to the coast as I take the path up the hillside..
..and onto the moorland above
I soon pass the ruins of the settlement of Crackaig..
Looking back along the path and I can't help but notice the dark cloud that's on its way
It soon reaches me and I'm walking in a downpour
Approaching the house of Laroch Mhor
The shower has cleared as I walk north along the B8073 back to where I parked my car
On the drive back to Pennygown I stopped at Eas Mor to take a few photos of the waterfalls. Unfortunately another downpour meant it was only a brief visit...
