Route description: Clapham-Clapdale Farm-Trow Gill-Little Ingleborough-Ingleborough-Dales High Way-Pennine Bridleway-Long Scar-Long Lane-Clapham

It's Bank Holiday Monday and for our last walk together of a long weekend, me and my friend from Ireland have met up in Clapham. I'd decided on a route that I've done many times; Ingleborough via Trow Gill and Little Ingleborough, with a return to Clapham by the path across Simon Fell Breast, Long Scar, and the track of Long Lane. There's plenty of variety in the scenery, from the limestone features of Trow Gill and Gaping Gill to the great views from the summit of Ingleborough. The sunshine arrived for this final walk, with a forecast of a very warm and sunny day. We set off from Clapham with blue skies and sunshine, and it stayed that way for the rest of the day, with just a little fair weather cloud in the afternoon and a breeze on the moors to give some relief from the heat.

From the NP car park in Clapham we walked through the village and onto the track to Clapdale Farm, signposted for Ingleborough. We followed this up to Clapdale Farm, then went through the farmyard and onto a path down to the track that leaves the Ingleborough Hall Estate. We turned left here and walked along the track to Ingleborough Cave, where we picked up the path up Trow Gill and onto the open moor. The path up Little Ingleborough was then taken (after a detour to Gaping Gill), and then on up to the summit of Ingleborough, where we stopped for lunch. After this break we made our way to the eastern end of the summit plateau and took the Dales High Way trail down Simon Fell Breast and to Long Scar. From Long Scar we made my way back to Clapham down the track of Long Lane.
