Total ascent: 705 ft

OS map used: 287 - West Pennine Moors

Time taken: 2 hrs

Route description: Layby on B6214 at Buckden Wood-Buckden Wood-Bull Hill-Harcles Hill-Peel Tower-Buckden Wood-Layby on B6214 at Buckden Wood

My first opportunity for an evening walk this year and hopefully not the last. A glorious evening for a stroll.

I started this walk from the layby at Buckden Wood on the B6214 between Holcombe and Helmshore. I walked up through Buckden Wood and then up to the summit of Bull Hill. From there it was across Holcombe Moor to Harcles Hill and then Peel Tower. My way back was the bridleway that runs along the side of the hill and then back down through Buckden Wood to the start.

Just below the summit of Bull Hill and there are great views to the north when the visibility is this good. On the distant horizon beyond the nearby West Pennine Moors are the fells of the Forest of Bowland.
