14th October 2017 - Boulsworth Hill
Walk Details
Distance walked: 7.5 miles
Total ascent: 1494 ft
OS map used: OL21 - South Pennines
Time taken: 4 hrs
Route description: Wycoller-Bronte Way-Dean House Farm-Bronte Way-Boulsworth Hill-Bronte Way-Dean House Farm-Bronte Way-Wycoller
Rather changeable weather is forecast for this weekend so I made no definite plans about where to go. The remains of Hurricane Ophelia is pushing up a lot of mild, damp air on southerly winds which resulted in the hills being covered in low cloud this morning. It had lifted by lunchtime so I went to Wycoller to do a climb of Boulsworth Hill. Coffee and cake was had at the cafe before setting off.
From the car park above Wycoller I walked down into and through the hamlet and across the packhorse bridge. I then followed the trail of the Bronte Way by Wycoller Beck, up to and past Dean House Farm to where it joins the Pennine Bridleway. The trail was then followed west to pick up the path to the summit of Boulsworth Hill. I returned to Wycoller by the same route.
