15th December 2014 - Nicky Nook

Walk Details

Distance walked: 3.8 miles

Total ascent: 785 ft

OS map used: OL41 - Forest of Bowland & Ribblesdale

Time taken: 3 hrs

Route description: Scorton-Tithe Barn Lane-Higher Lane-Grize Dale-Nicky Nook-Snowhill Lane-Scorton

Just a short walk on a fine afternoon today. Nicky Nook is a small hill with great views. I managed to dodge the showers and with a strong breeze in off the sea it was a bit bracing.

From Scorton I walked up Tithe Barn Lane then turned right onto Higher Lane to reach the bridleway up Grize Dale. After following the bridleway up the valley I took the path opposite Grizedale Reservoir up the fell to reach the summit of Nicky Nook. My route back to Scorton was down the other side of the fell past The Tarn and then down Snowhill Lane.
