There's better weather forecast for this weekend, with a fine, sunny day to look forward to tomorrow and a long walk planned. I decided to head across to Airedale today and do a short walk that would take in Goitstock Wood, which has a nice waterfall in it that's definitely worth me taking the trouble of carrying my tripod with me. Goitstock Wood was certainly the highlight of the day with some autumn colour still around for me to enjoy. The rest of the route could have done with some sunshine to brighten it up.
From where I parked on Wilsden Road south of Harden I walked up Goit Stock Lane to the caravan park and then along the public footpath up through Goitstock Wood. I crossed the footbridge at its top and made my way up the track of Hallas Lane to the B6144, crossed it, then followed the bridleway opposite up to the B6429. After crossing this road I took the bridleway north past West Manywells Farm and up to Haworth Road. I turned left and after a short walk along the pavement took a footpath on the right towards Cullingworth. Before reaching the village I turned left onto a track and followed this bridleway north, taking the right hand one when it forked, to head under a bridge carrying a disused railway line. I kept right around a large pond and took a footpath on the left up to Eller Carr Farm on Keighley Road. Across the road and I followed a footpath east across fields to the small estate of Hunters Green, crossed Hill End Lane, then carried on along the footpath east above Cow House Beck to reach a chimney above the caravan park on Goit Stock Lane. I descended a track into the caravan park and once on Goit Stock Lane retraced my steps to where I was parked.
