28th August 2011 - Boulsworth Hill

Walk Details

Distance walked: 6.1 miles

Total ascent: 936 ft

OS map used: OL21 - South Pennines

Time taken: 3.5 hrs

Route description: Clough Foot, Widdop-Greaves Clough-Lad Law-Dove Stones-Grey Stone Hill-Raven Stones-Clough Foot, Widdop

I parked in the Clough Foot car park below Widdop Reservoir and headed north along a footpath above Greave Clough. This soon meets up with a shooters track that follows Greaves Clough upstream, which I followed to its end. A narrow trod at best was then followed to the head of Greave Clough from where I made my way to the summit of Boulsworth Hill. From Boulsworth Hill I backtracked a little way and made my way across to the gritstone outcrops of Dove Stones. From Dove Stones I headed across to Grey Stone Hill and then followed the outcrops of The Scout, Raven Stones and Slack Stones back down to the road.
