As luck would have it I'd booked today off work. The snow that fell yesterday won't be around for long as it's set to turn milder later today with rain arriving during the afternoon. My decision to head out for a walk was a last minute one. I was expecting the skies to already be filled with low cloud from the approaching milder weather and that it wouldn't be as bright as it was first thing this morning. Not wanting to miss out on the chance of another walk in the snow I put on my boots and set off from home at 1000 for the moors to the east of Foulridge. It was cold and frosty when I left Foulridge, with mostly grey skies and a little brightness, and for the most part that's the way it stayed, apart from twenty minutes when I was on Great Edge at about 1200. A patch of clearer skies and bright sunshine passed across and transformed the landscape. I couldn't believe my luck, I certainly made the right decision to head out. By now the snow was softening, and would start to thaw during the afternoon so that by tomorrow it was all gone.
From where I live in Foulridge I crossed the A56, walked up to Skipton Old Road, and then up Noyna Road to its top. I then turned left and walked up Cob Lane to its top and turned right onto the track to Great Edge Farm, which I walked up until it turned right for Great Edge Farm, where I went straight on, taking the footpath along the edge of Kelbrook Wood and across fields to Harwes Farm. From Harwes Farm I took the footpath to Piked Edge, then returned to Harwes Farm, from where I took the footpath southwest onto Great Edge. I then followed the path west down Great Edge and across Moss Houses Beck and up to Cob Lane. A path from Cob Lane at Noyna End Farm took me up onto Noyna Hill, and the path west across its top and down to Skipton Old Road was followed. A short walk back to my home in Foulridge was left.
