After a couple of days of cold and grey winter weather there's some sunshine in today's forecast, along with a chance of a snow shower or two in the afternoon (a bit more than a shower turned up). There's still snow on the ground, especially higher up, and an opportunity for a walk across snow covered moors is something I always look forward to. My route today, from home, took me onto the moors to the east of where I live. I seem to be swapping back and forth between to the west and east of Foulridge at the moment. After a sunny start I enjoyed a sunny morning before the skies clouded over, and heavy snow fell for the best part of a couple of hours in the afternoon. That much wasn't forecast. I decided to shelter under a stand of trees by the path from Harwes Farm to Great Edge for about an hour as the worst of it passed through. With tea in my flask and still some of my packed lunch left, it wasn't so bad watching the snow piling up as I knew I didn't have far to get back home.

From where I live in Foulridge I walked up to and across the A56, then up to and north along Skipton Old Road to Kelbrook, and down Waterloo Road and Main Street. I then turned right onto Harden Road and walked to its end and onto Heads Lane. I then walked up Heads Lane to its end and onto the Pennine Bridleway and up Harden Clough to Kitchen Farm, where I took the track above Kitchen Farm and followed it up onto Burnt Hill, then the footpath across to Piked Edge above Black Lane Ends, and then from Piked Edge across to Harwes Farm. From Harwes Farm I then made my way across to Great Edge and down to Cob Lane, and after walking up to the top of Cob Lane I took a footpath on the left to reach the top of Noyna Hill. I followed the footpath west from Noyna Hill down to Skipton Old Road for a return to Foulridge and home.
