Not the best of weather this weekend, but today promises to be good enough for it to be worth me going somewhere for a walk. I'm definitely staying local though, so the short drive across to Bronte Country was done for a walk taking in the moors around Oxenhope. I left setting off from home as late as I dared to give it chance to brighten up, so it was 1130 when I arrived at Penistone Hill Country Park. It was worth the delay as it soon brightened up, and I enjoyed a nice bit of autumnal sunshine before the cloud rolled back in and the mist descended. I didn't get much of a view from Nab Hill.
From the car park at Penistone Hill Country Park I crossed Penistone Hill and joined the trail of the Bronte Way. I followed this south to Old Oxenhope Farm, down Old Oxenhope Lane, along Marsh Lane and then down a footpath to cross the line of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. After crossing the line I turned right and followed the path out to Harry Lane where I turned left and walked uphill and crossed Keighley Road onto Dark Lane. I then walked up Dark Lane until I reached the trail of the Worth Way on the left. I made my way north across fields on the trail until I reached a bridleway (difficult to spot) up to the hillside of Bentley Hey and Black Moor Road. After walking south along Black Moor Road I made my way down to Leeming on a path through a disused quarry and then a track to the main road. I crossed the road and took the footpath opposite around the eastern end of Leeming Reservoir to the trail of the Bronte Way, which I followed uphill to the track of Hambleton Lane. I then walked south along Hambleton Lane, took the footpath on the right and made my way west along the northern edge of Nab Hill and down to Nab Water Lane, which I walked down until I reached a left hand bend and the restricted byway of Isle Lane. I followed Isle Lane down to Back Leeming and onto Jew Lane, which took me into Oxenhope. I then turned left onto the road of Lowertown, went straight on at a right hand bend onto Hill House Lane and followed this track uphill until I reached a footpath on the right up to Hebden Bridge Road. It was here that I joined the trail of the Millennium Way, which I followed north down the hillside of Stones to Shaw Lane, down to and across Rag Clough Beck and up to Marsh Lane, then finally up through fields to Upper Marsh Farm and back to Penistone Hill Country Park.
