4th August 2014 - Across Holcombe Moor

Walk Details

Distance walked: 4.5 miles

Total ascent: 705 ft

OS map used: 287 - West Pennine Moors

Time taken: 2 hrs

Route description: Layby on B6214 at Buckden Wood-Buckden Wood-Peel Tower-Harcles Hill-Bull Hill-Buckden Wood-Layby on B6214 at Buckden Wood

The planets have aligned and nearly three months after my first evening walk I'm out on Holcombe Moor again.

After parking in the lay-by I made my way up through Buckden Wood and onto the bridleway which I followed to Peel Tower. I then made my way across Harcles Hill and Holcombe Moor to the summit of Bull Hill. A quick descent was then done.

By the trig point on the summit of Bull Hill. A fantastic light is developing as the sun starts to set. It's 20:40.

The best view from up here. Pendle Hill and a distant Ingleborough to its left.

Heading back down, quickly. I'd like a bit of daylight for the walk through Buckden Wood.
