4th March 2012 - Parlick & Fair Snape Fell
Walk Details
Distance walked: 3.9 miles
Total ascent: 1204 ft
OS map used: OL41 - Forest of Bowland & Ribblesdale
Time taken: 3 hrs (includes the best part of an hour on Fair Snape Fell)
Route description: Fell Foot-Parlick-Fair Snape Fell-Parlick-Fell Foot
Sods law that the fine spring weather of the week should give way to wet and windy weather for the weekend but at least the longer days give you the opportunity to do a walk in the afternoon. That's what I did today after the rain and snow of the morning showed signs of clearing away after lunchtime. It was windy and cold on the tops but the shower clouds coming in off the Irish Sea made for some spectacular skyscapes.
A very simple there and back walk straight up the front of Parlick and on to Fair Snape Fell with the return by the same route.

On Fair Snape Fell. This isn't the actual summit which is about half a mile to the northeast but the better views are from here and there's a shelter to sit in.
The view to the northwest towards Morecambe Bay and the Lake District
Looking to the north and I can spot snow on Great Coum, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales
The wider view in the same direction
Sunshine on the coast
Dramatic skies
Sunnier skies to the northwest for the moment and I can make out some of the Lake District fells in the distance
