Hooray! At last. A fine spring day that feels like spring. No hat, no gloves and sleeves rolled up.
My Dad joined me on this walk to visit Simon's Seat and Trollers Gill from Burnsall in Wharfedale.
From the car park in Burnsall we crossed Burnsall Bridge to then follow the Dales Way downstream by the Wharfe to the hamlet of Howgill. Once through Howgill we climbed to the summit of Simon's Seat. The route down from Simon's Seat was certainly more difficult than we expected due to the snow but once we reached Dalehead Farm it was easy going as we crossed fields to High Skyreholme. The path by Skyreholme Beck took us to Trollers Gill. After Trollers Gill we made our way up to New Road. A path across Appletreewick Pasture and the track of Kail Lane took us back to the Dales Way and Burnsall.
The refreshment kiosk in the car park was patronised both before and after the walk. He was a busy man today.
