I decided to have a walk up Boulsworth Hill from Wycoller this afternoon, it should stay fine, although it won't be the most glorious of summer days. The route I went for took in mostly familiar footpaths and bridleways, but never in this particular combination before. The network of footpaths and bridleways between Wycoller, Trawden and Boulsworth Hill means that it will be quite some time until I've exhausted all the different routes that I can take. After setting off from Wycoller just after midday under mostly cloudy skies, it stayed that way through the afternoon with just a few sunny spells every now and then, though the visibility was good enough for decent views from Boulsworth Hill.
From the car park above Wycoller I walked down into and through the hamlet, across Wycoller Beck, then along the track carrying the Pennine Bridleway until I reached the Bronte Way up the track to Dean House Farm. I took this and followed it up to Dean House Farm, through the farmyard, and then up to the Pennine Bridleway above, which I took and followed southwest across Turnhole Clough and then above Saucer Hill Clough until it reached a track on the left up to a waterworks building. I walked up the track to the building and then on up the footpath to the trig point on the summit of Boulsworth Hill. After taking in the view I made my way down by the path past the Abbot Stone and back to the Pennine Bridleway, which I followed east past Lumb Laithe Farm to reach the track to Mean Moss Farm. I took the bridleway along this track to Mean Moss Farm, then footpaths north across fields to New Laithe Farm and Little Laith, then east past Germany Farm to reach a track. I turned left here and walked down the footpath along the track past Great Thorn Edge Farm to the road to Wycoller, where I turned right for a walk along the road back to the car park.
