9th February 2014 - Reddyshore Scout

Walk Details

Distance walked: 6.1 miles

Total ascent: 894 ft

OS map used: OL21 - South Pennines

Time taken: 2.5 hrs

Route description: Walsden-Inchfield Road-Ramsden Wood-Cranberry Dam-Allescholes-Reddyshore Scout-Summit-Rochdale Canal-Walsden

A mostly dry afternoon and I couldn't resist the opportunity to get out for a few hours. I stayed local and made the short trip over to Calderdale for a walk above Reddyshore Scout.

From Walsden I had a short steep walk up Inchfield Road to reach the footpath which I used to cross the fields to Ramsden Wood. From Ramsden Wood I made my way to Cranberry Dam to pick up the bridleway to Allescholes. I then followed the Pennine Bridleway above Reddyshore Scout and down to Summit. To get back to Walsden I used the towpath by the Rochdale Canal.

All forms of communication pass through the cramped valley floor. Road, canal and railway through a tunnel beneath my feet.
